Remind me, Remind each other

Remind me, Remind each other

How often do we need reminding about things? Reminders about things we tend to forget help us do the things we’re meant to do. What about the reminders of the TRUTH? It is really important to keep reminding each other and yourself that God is God and that he is faithful, loving, merciful etc… We (I) need reminding of this. There is ample evidence in the Bible that they are quickly forgotten.

I figure you can forget things and then you can FORGET things… What I mean by this is that you can be told a great TRUTH and then forget it and it never comes to your mind again. Or you can forget it only for a “time” in your mind. We go through seasons in our life, be it one week, 3 months or years, where we struggle with discouragement and sin. In these moments we forget the great truths about God but knowing deep down inside they still hold true.

Israel did this, moral of the story “DON’T FOLLOW WHAT ISRAEL DID”

“And the people of Israel did not remember the LORD their God, who had delivered them from the hand of all their enemies on every side.” (Judges 8:34)

Instead we should heed the words of Peter:

“I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder…. This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder.” (2 Peter 1:12-13; 3:1)
