Sundays at SYPC

Welcome

If you are new to church, we hope that our worship services at SYPC will be a safe place for you to explore the historic Christian faith, not from a distance, but from the inside. Our worship services are designed to both build up those who believe and to challenge and help those who doubt or seek.

Whatever your spiritual journey – or none – be assured of a very warm welcome in joining with us for worship of the true and living God.

Though worship is an all of life reality for all Christians, and something we are to do more formally in private and as a family, we also recognise that God calls His people to gather together on a weekly basis to worship Him together.

10.30am – Worship Service

Worship is the Spirit-led response to God’s sovereign grace and is the highest and grandest calling of Christians. At SYPC, we believe, at its best, worship is word-regulated, God-centred, Spirit-filled, Christ-mediated, and joyfully reverent.

Through:

  • prayer,
  • song (Psalms, traditional and modern),
  • reading and preaching of the Bible,
  • participation in the sacraments,

we intentionally celebrate our union with the living Christ who reigns in glory and in our hearts.

The total length of a Sunday service at SYPC would be about 75 minutes, followed by morning tea.

Sacraments

The sacrament of Baptism occurs as called for (we hold to covenant baptism which includes adults who come into the Covenant of grace through faith in Jesus Christ and also the children of covenant members).

The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated Supper on the first Sunday of every month in the morning followed by a lunch fellowship after.

Children

A marked feature of worship services at SYPC is that our children are with us for the whole time. We also believe that worship is a covenant family activity, that the whole family so far as is possible should be in the worship service together. We do have a room fitted with audio where parents can temporarily retreat with a distressed or otherwise needy child and yet remain part of the service.

SYPCtoday

This is our weekly information and news sheet which helps for preparing to worship, inform you of what is happening next in the worship service, and supply you with prayer points and information of events, etc for the coming week.
